We are dedicated to the Rural and Urban Forestry Program. In Gujarat, only 9.83% of the geographical area is declared as forest, highlighting the need to increase tree cover in non-forest areas. To address this concern, the Government of Gujarat launched the Social Forestry Program, establishing Social Forestry divisions.
The primary objectives of the social forestry program are to enhance tree resources, increase the green cover, emphasize the importance of bio-resources, integrate available land under tree cover, and improve carbon stock in the soil. This program is a collective effort, involving the active participation of people from rural and urban areas.
As part of this program, our federation has undertaken the mission of organizing and motivating individuals in rural and urban areas to participate in tree plantation initiatives. We encourage tree plantation on various lands, including Panchayat lands, wastelands, road sides, railway sides, canal sides, school and college compounds, and other government lands.
To foster greater participation, our Agroforestry department conducts youth and farmer workshops and training camps, inspiring people in rural and urban areas to engage in tree plantations. We organize tree plantation campaigns in urban areas and supply seedlings to farmers, institutions, and organizations. Furthermore, we provide support to small and marginal farmers, assisting them in planting trees on their degraded lands.
Through our Agroforestry program, we strive to enhance sustainable economic and environmental growth for the people of society. By increasing tree cover, we contribute to ecological balance, environmental conservation, and the overall well-being of communities. Trees play a crucial role in carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation, soil protection, and the provision of valuable ecosystem services.
Join us in our endeavor to create a greener and healthier environment for all. Together, we can make a significant difference in enhancing the beauty, resilience, and sustainability of rural and urban landscapes in Gujarat.
